How does madeby.fi work?
It is very easy and risk-free process. Designer/Artists opens his account and uploads pictures of the products he/she has on sale. Desiger/Artist fills the description of the product.The process of placing the item on sale takes about 3 minutes. When the item is sold, Designer/ Artist sends the package to the buyer. Once per month Designer/Artist receives from MadeBy summary payments for all the sales  he/ she made during previous month. madeby.fi is a platform with all tools needed for succesful sales and marketing. Artists/Designers themselves decide what they want to sell and what will be a price of the product.

How can I apply for selling products?
1. Go to the starting page.
2. Click “join us” on the grey stripe on the top of the page. A window with two registration options will open.
3. Click “I’ve got special powers in my hands” if you are a designer/artist and wish to sell your creations on the website.
4. You will be asked to upload 6 pictures of your art/design, or whatever you wish to sell. You should also give a description yourself as an artist, and you contact details. NOTE: You need to have a Business ID to register. If you do not have one, see question & answer below.
5. Read the sales contract carefully and tick the box “I accept MadeBy's terms of use and Agreement of product sale between MadeBy Helsinki and Manufacturer”
6. Click “Register.”
7. We at MadeBy will review the pictures and the artist description and confirm that your creations are suitable for MadeBy. After that, you will be sent an activation code via email.
8. You’re all set and ready to start selling!

Who can sell?
1.You have to have a company or at least have a commercial name (toiminimi). In practice it means that you need to have a business ID (Y-tunnus) to register.
2. All artists in MadeBy should be serious about what they are doing. We want to be sure that everybody who is selling at MadeBy makes good quality products, great designs, is committed to sending products to customers on time etc. If you consider art & design to be more of a hobby to you, maybe this is not the place for you to sell your creations

I don't have a commercial name (toiminimi). What should I do?

Are there any costs of opening seller or user account?
Both registrations are free of charge.
Designers/Artists for free can open their portfolio and place their items to sell. Our goal is to give talented designers the oportunity to be more visible on the market and we want to make it easier for them.We also want to make it easier for customers to find unique and good quality products. We will only add MadeBy's 20 % commission to the final price of the product. See below: MadeBy’s commission

How to sell?
1. Register (see above How can I appy for selling products?)
2. Log in to your store.
3. Click "Add new product."
4. Name the item, give it personal touch.
5. Choose a category. If there is no suitable category, you can suggest a new one. Before we will add it, you can use the category "OTHER."
6. Chose color(s), material(s), and technique. With the previous, you can also use the option "OTHER" and/or suggest a new one.
7. Write a detailed description of your product. Write for example the story behind it, inspiration etc. In case the product has any features that might be dangerous/hazardous to health (sharp, might cause allergy etc), please also mention it in your description. Make it clear what is purpose of use of the product!
8 Add from 2 to 6 pictures. At least two; Full size and the detail. If possible, the first picture should have white background. Picture should have max size of 1500 x1500 pixl. See below sections: What to do if the picture is to big? and How to take good pictures of your product?
9. Accept.
10. You can change the description, pictures of your product, deleting the product after clicking on: Manage your shop.
11. If the product will be sold, we will send you the email with the shipping address given by buyer. You will have 2 working days to send the items.
12. You will receive the money on your account for all your sales once per month, always on  the15th. For example, all the sales you make between 1.3.-31.3. you will be paid for on 15.4. This is because according to Finnish law, a customer has the right to return a purchased product during a certain time period. With this payment schedule we make sure that we can also return the money, when necessary, with ease.

Can I place my contact information in my portolio visible for customers?
All the personal and contact information you are filling in while opening your portfolio is only for MadeBy's internal use only.
You can add the address of your www to the official description of your profile unless it directs to other online store.
Also, the link can be added in exchange for adding at your website the link to www.madeby.fi.

Why do I have to choose which VAT is included in my price?
One of the requirements is that the Artist/ Designer should have minimum Business Name( Toiminimi). In practice it means that your artwork and creative activity is at least a little bit more than just a hobby.When adding the price you would wish to receive, you should always consider the amount of VAT it includes. Depending on the form of your business, what products you sell and how much your turnover is, the VAT percentage you should apply can vary:
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE VAT OPTION (0%, 8%, 22%) IS YOUR CHOICE. WE ARE NOT CHECKING IF YOUR PERCENTAGE IS CORRECT. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS CONSULT THE TAX AUTHORITIES IN CASE OF ANY HESITATION.


MadeBy’s commission
MadeBy’s commission is based on your NETTO price (visible in your pricing calculator). You should mark the correct tax rate so we know how much your netto is.In other words, our pricing system is designed in such a way, that the Artist/Designer receives on his account the amount he/she chooses in the beginning. For example:  If you will place 10 Euros as the price of an item, you will receive 10 Euros on your account when the item will be sold. When do I have to send my product to the buyer?
According to MadeBy's general rules after receiving from us the information about the sale you will have to send the item within 2 working days. In case you are not able to send the item within 2 working days (for example because you will be on holidays) PLEASE WRITE SUCH AN INFORMATION IN THE DESCRIPTION OF THE PRODUCT (for example: "I will be on holidays from 21.01-30.01 and I will send all purchased items on 1.02"). This way the buyer knows about the situation before he makes the decision about buying your product.

How to take good pictures of my products?
  1. All the pictures uploaded of products should be high quality. Please don’t upload any mobile phone camera pics.
  2. You should always have at least two pictures of a product: one up close and one where you see the whole product.
  3. If possible, use a white background in your pictures.
  4. There are plenty of internet sites giving tips on how to take good pictures of jewelry. Here is one, which is quite good: http://www.home-jewelry-business-success-tips.com/photographing-jewelry.html

What to do if the picture is too big?
You can upload pictures with a maximum resolution of 1500x1500 pixels. Changing the size of your pictures is very easy.
You can use for  example Microsoft Paint for this purpose. Follow these steps:
  1. Download pictures onto the computer and place them into a folder
  2. Double click on the picture that you want to resize. A window should pop up on your screen, that has the picture on it, called "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer." The bottom of this window will have multiple icons.
  3. Click on the icon that is second from the far right. When you hold your mouse over it, it should say "Closes this program and opens the image for editing.
  4. When Microsoft Paint pops up, it should have your picture on it. To resize it, go to the top left side of the window and click on "Image," then scroll down to "Stretch/skew" and click on that.
  5. Pick a percentage of the image size you want it to be. You cannot resize your image by putting in the amount of pixels you want in Microsoft paint. If you know an approximate size you want it though, put in the percentage. Once you apply the new size, go click on "Image" again. Scroll down to "Attributes" and click on that. This will show you how big your image is in pixels. You cannot change the image size here though because it will crop your picture rather than resize it.
For changing the resolution of your pictures you can also  use other programs like for example Picasa.


BUYING

How can I register to buy products?
1. Go to the starting page.
2. Click "Register” on the grey stripe on the top of the page. A window with two registration options will open.
3. Choose "customer" account type.
4. Fill in your contact details.
5. Click “Register”
6. You will be sent an activation code via email automatically.
7. Login and enjoy!

How can I BUY?
1.Click any picture of a product to get to the product description page.
2.You can search for product.

Notice that a postal fee is added to the price, unless mentioned otherwise.


What does it mean that the product is RESERVED?
Status Reserved means that someone else has the product in his/her shopping cart. One product can be only in one shopping cart to prevent double sales of one item. Products stays in the shopping cart maximum for 24 hours. In the status won't change to SOLD, after 24 hours , item is again available.

How can I pay?
We are using the Checkout online payments system.
We accept Finnish bank payments, and Visa-, Visa Electron- Business Eurocard- and Mastercard-payments.



How are the products delivered?
madeby.fi uses the delivery services of Itella. The sellers can choose for themselves, which delivery options are available for a product. From these option, the buyer can choose the delivery option he/she prefers. In madeby.fi, the following delivery options are in use:

In Finland (unfortunately we don't deliver in any other country yet):
  • Registered letter
  • Postal parcel- Available for collection from the addressee’s nearest postal outlet after 4 p.m. on the next working day following posting. The parcel can be handed over during the Post Office’s business hours. An advice of arrival of the parcel is delivered to the addressee.
  • Parcel to the doorstep-Delivered to the addressee by 2pm on the next working day (Mon-Fri). If undelivered, the deliverer will leave an Advice of arrival and the item will be available for collection by the recipient from hi/her local post office.
  • Insured Item - Price inclusive of handling as a fragile item. A special label: "helposti särkyvä" (fragile) available on post office must be affixed to the fragile item.

Can I return the product?
Yes. Every person buying via internet can return the item within 14 days without any reason. The item should not be used and should be return in the original package. More information you will find here: http://www.kuluttajavirasto.fi/Page/6ca56267-c91d-43ff-b663-1b3e1f45389d.aspx

How can I return the product?
In case of return : Please sent first an email to info@madeby.fi Please write the which product of which artist you would like to return. We will send you the shipping address. REMEMBER THAT YOU WILL RETURN THE PRODUCT TO THE DESIGNER, FROM WHERE IT WAS SENT TO YOU. After confirmation from the designer of receiving the item, we will send you the money back to your account ( price of the return items plus costs of shipping). Customer has to pay the return fee according a new law (12.6.2014), if damaged product is not the reason for return.

How can I complain about the product?
In case of complain: please send us the email to the address info@madeby.fi. We will contact you within 24 h from receiving the complain. More information about the complain you can find here: www.kuluttajavirasto.fi/en-GB/complaint/
